KU Department of Electronic Media to Host "Red Carpet Affair"

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) mid-Atlantic chapter are co-sponsoring an invitation-only event, 'A Red Carpet Affair,' on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., in the Rickenbach Learning Center. 

High school students involved with media and television production programs or related organized high school clubs will be able to attend workshops and talk to professionals about the electronic media industry. Workshops will include the how and why of video compression, Adobe After Effects, Motion and Photoshop in video post-production and more. Students will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with a number of award-winning videographers, editors, and producers.

Arrival and registration for the event begins at 8 a.m. Following check-in, attendees will be welcomed and introduced to the presenters. From 8:35 to 12:35 p.m., participants will rotate through four different group sessions. Lunch, from 12:40 to 1:30 p.m., concludes with a question and answer session. Kutztown University Admissions counselors will also be on hand to answer questions about admission to KU and the electronic media major.

The presenters for this event include J.R. Aguila '82, an Emmy® award-winning event producer-director at Comcast SportsNet; Tara Faccenda, executive director of the NATAS mid-Atlantic chapter;  James Spering '83, an Emmy® award-winning news photographer and president of the Local 804 International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees Union in Philadelphia; Will Kenworthy '95, award-winning news photojournalist; Kevin Martorana '83, a nationally recognized director of photography and director of broadcast, corporate and commercial programs; and Gina Johnson '08, producer of 69 News at Sunrise for WFMZ-TV in Allentown, Pa. Successful KU alumni Pamela Kemp '08, Tim Fenstermacher '00, John V. Pappalardo '87 and Eric Werner '88 will also serve as presenters.
