KU Community Blitz outreach to commuters, neighbors
September 5, 2012
KUTZTOWN, Pa., - Kutztown University holds its Community Blitz, a student-run reach-out program for KU students living the neighborhoods around the university, on Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Church on Main Street in Kutztown.
Commuting to campus and unsure of what's going on around campus? During Community Blitz, members of the KU Off Campus Advisory Council (OCAC), a student-run organization, will be handing out hand-made bags filled with promotional items-coupons, flyers and discounts to all the great places right here in the town of the KU golden bears. This is also a great opportunity to take time and get to know neighbors and the surroundings of Kutztown University.
"We're trying to do an outreach program for our students living in the borough who might want a little more information about what's happening on-campus," said Susan Mangold, student services coordinator. "We have so many program and events - KUPresents!, the Pennsylvania German Center, football games - this is a great chance for everyone to find out what's happening on-campus and a opportunity to get involved," she said.
At 1 p.m., off campus students and residents of the Kutztown Borough are invited to a picnic which will be located at St. John's United Church of Christ on South Whiteoak Street. The picnic will wrap up at 3 p.m.
