KU ‘Modern Makers’ Exhibition Features Prominent Area Artists
October 10, 2013
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University's Marlin and Regina Miller Art Gallery will host an opening reception for the art exhibition "Modern Markers: 21st Century Craft in Berks and Lehigh Counties," on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Sharadin Arts Building. This event is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will feature work from some of the region's most prominent metalsmiths, ceramicists, furniture makers, textile artists and weavers. Working in a very modern style with cutting edge techniques, these craftsmen advance the idea of "craft" in a region well known for its traditional folk art. Many of the featured artists are affiliated with the university as alumni, faculty emeriti, and student mentors.
