KU to Mark Veteran's Day with Flag Ceremonies
November 7, 2013
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University's Military Club will mark Veteran's Day with two flag ceremonies on Monday, Nov. 11. At 7:45 a.m. the U.S. flag will be raised and at 4:35 p.m. the flag will be lowered. Both services will take place at the flag pole in front of Schaeffer Auditorium.
Both events will be similar to ones held at every United States military post in the world.
The ceremonies are designed to show respect and reinforce a connection to past and current service. All veterans and current service members are invited to render honors during the ceremonies.
Ethan Wightkin, a senior music education major from Monroeville, Allegheny County, will serve as bugler for both ceremonies.
Kutztown University was awarded the designation of Military Friendly School in August, by Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. KU is ranked in the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are working to embrace military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.
Schaeffer Auditorium is located at Main St. and Schaeffer Lane on the KU campus.
