German ambassador to U.S. visits KU

Nov. 20: During visit to KU, German ambassador stresses education (Reading Eagle)
Charles Dent, the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 15th congressional district, and James Gerlach, U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 6th congressional district serve as co-hosts for the visit on Monday, Nov. 19 at 12:30 p.m., in the McFarland Student Union building. The media is invited to attend.
Ambassador Ammon holds a doctorate in economics from Berlin's Free University. From 1996 to 1999, he was head of Policy Planning and speech writer to the German president.
From 1999 to 2001, Ammon served at the German Embassy in Washington, D.C., as economic minister, and then as director general for Economics at the German Foreign Office from 2001 to 2007, where he helped assist the G8 world economic summits for German Chancellors Schroeder and Merkel. In 2007, he was appointed German Ambassador to France.
His most recent appointment was at the Foreign Office, where he served as State Secretary.
