May 29, 2012
KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown native and 1973 graduate, Richard Pawling, was one of 200 buglers chosen to celebrate the 150th anniversary of "Taps" at the first Civil War grave in Arlington National Cemetery.
"This is my way of saying never forget about what these people did for this great nation of ours," said Pawling, whose interest in military history and re-enactment experience led to him being chosen for this tribute. "I have come full circle to pay my respects to those who died in order for me to have had the opportunity to experience this moving event. Freedom is never free. That's what I learned by playing Taps at Arlington National Cemetery for the 150th Anniversary."
