Students Compete in Real World Retailing Competition
March 17, 2014
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University's Center for Retailing Solutions (CRS) will host the Collegiate Corporate Challenge Competition from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, April 3 in the McFarland Student Union.
Teams from Kutztown University, the Pennsylvania State University (PSU) Lehigh Valley campus, PSU Wilkes-Barre campus, PSU Abington campus and Alvernia College will present their plan to help Sorrelli Jewelry expand their retail business.
The winning team will receive $1,000 and a 'traveling' trophy that will be housed at the winner's school. The second-place team will be awarded $500.
Sorrelli Jewelry is the sponsor for this year's competition.
"The Center for Retailing Solutions is a gateway for students to become involved with the retail world," explained Dr. James Ogden, professor of business administration at KU. "Having a Kutztown Company sponsor the event is quite impressive. The students that enter the Sorrelli Challenge will gain experience in retailing that no course could ever teach them. It doesn't hurt that we're exposing the area students to major, medium and local employers as well."
The Center for Retailing Solutions is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring together retail academicians, students and practitioners. This is the fourth year of the competition.
