Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center to Host Blessing of the Soil

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University's Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center will host a 'blessing of the soil' in honor of St. Gertrude's Day, at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 16 in the newly reconstructed kitchen garden of the historic Sharadin Farmhouse.
Dr. William Woys Weaver, internally known historian and author of 16 books, including "As American as Shoefly Pie," will give a short presentation on the history and gardening customs surrounding St. Gertrude's Day.
A book signing will follow the traditional blessing of the soil.
