Music Professor Marie Cadieux to Perform Recital

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Cellist Marie Cadieux will perform her faculty recital March 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Old Main, room 163 (the Georgian room).
In addition to serving as principal cellist for the Illinois Symphony, Cadieux has appeared in several festival orchestras, including the Blossom Music Festival and Great Music West. She has also performed for traveling Broadway shows and dance companies such as the Mark Morris Dance Group. Cadieux has toured with the Kirkland Trio and performed with the Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra. She was a finalist in the Chicago Symphony/Rose Faye Thomas Competition.
Outside her orchestral and solo recitals, she is a member of Duo Terlano, whose CD, Whimsies, features her own "Three Nostalgic Pieces." Cadieux also presents local and national workshops for music educators and master classes for all age levels. As a recipient of the Pennsylvania and Delaware String Teachers Association Outstanding String Teacher Award, she has developed a DVD on healthy cello techniques and composed her own intermediate scale and velocity study book.
Cadieux holds a Graduate Performance Certificate from Northwestern University and has a doctorate of musical arts degree from Ohio State University.
