Free reading assessment for youth

March 7, 2013

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University's Graduate Reading Specialist Program is offering free reading assessment clinics for children in grades one - 11 on Saturday, March 16 and Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the Beekey Education Building. This is an opportunity for children who appear to have difficulty reading or take extra time to complete reading-related tasks.

All testing is free and administered by certified teachers who are completing their Master of Education degree in Reading. They have taken courses in reading assessment and are supervised by faculty members in the Graduate Reading program.

Children who participate will receive three hours of free testing that will assess their reading skills and strategies. Parents will be provided with a complete case report prepared by specialists trained in reading diagnosis. This report will contain specific recommendations for the further development of the child´s reading skills.

To enroll your child for the diagnostic testing, please e-mail Dr. Sandra Chambers at or Dr. Cathy Walkovic at or call Emily at (610) 683-4627 and leave a message.  As soon as the referral form is returned, your child will be scheduled and you will be notified of the date. Spots will fill up fast, so please register as soon as possible.
