Project Trio comes to KU
Feb. 11, 2013
KUTZTOWN, PA - KU Presents! will host PROJECT Trio, an innovative classical ensemble, at Ursa Minor's Café in the McFarland Student Union on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for food.
PROJECT Trio, featuring beatbox sensation Greg Pattillo, is not your typical chamber ensemble. With a collective résumé that includes performance with the Houston Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra as well as 40 million hits on YouTube, PROJECT has a decidedly unique sound. The group takes its classical training and seamlessly melds rock, jazz, hip-hop, and Americana - creating an eclectic fusion for the ears. PROJECT Trio reinvigorates classical music for a new generation by combining the talent and passion of refined classical artistry with the fire and energy of rock stars.
Tickets for this event as well as clips, previews, and additional information, are available at www.KutztownPresents.org.
Coinciding with PROJECT Trio's arrival on campus is Kutztown University's Inaugural Woodwind Day, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, in Old Main's Georgian Room. This daylong event is packed with master classes and performances by KU faculty and guest artists, PROJECT Trio (featuring the Beat-Box flutist, Greg Pattillo) and oboist Nobuo Kitigawa. Students can also participate in chamber ensemble readings and a mini-performance. Area vendors will bring instruments and accessories for students to try out and will also provide maintenance advice and free minor instrument repairs.
