KU hosts provocative debate

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University will host a debate on pornography on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in McFarland Student Union room 218. The discussion, which will present opposing viewpoints on the legality of pornography, will feature adult film advocate Nina Hartley and pastor Chris Gross.

Hartley, a pornographic film director, actress, sex educator, feminist and author, considers herself a "sex-positive feminist" and has appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," HBO's "Real Sex" and "The Cho Show" to advocate for the existence of the adult film industry. In 2006 she published her first book, "Nina Hartley's Guide to Total Sex."

Gross is the founder of, a website aimed at combatting pornography addiction, and X3watch, an internet accountability system to help people avoid pornography on the web. He advocates for the criminalization of pornography and has appeared on "Good Morning America," "Nightline," "CNN," "Fox News," and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." Gross has authored nine books and has been featured in GQ, Newsweek, Time, Wired, The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times.
