Former NFL star presents "Secrets to Success"
Feb. 26, 2013
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Former football star Eric Thomas will be presenting his "Secrets to Success" to the Kutztown community on March 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the McFarland Student Union building room 218 (the Multipurpose room).
Thomas is a high school dropout who transformed himself into a renowned speaker, educator, author, activist and minister. His energetic and inspirational speeches encourage audiences nationwide to live up to their full potential by breaking the cycles of crime, hopelessness, and despair that many face daily.
Thomas played professional football for 9 seasons as cornerback for the Cincinnati Bengals, the New York Jets, and the Denver Broncos. In 1988 he went to the Pro-Bowl. Following his football career, he obtained his master's degree in 2005 and is currently pursuing his doctorate in education administration at Michigan State University.
While consulting at Michigan State, he developed the Advantage Program, an undergraduate retention program that targets academically high-risk students of color. Thomas's representation of the merits of higher education, coupled with his knowledge of the pains of life, inspires people from all walks of life to break bad habits and reach for new levels of personal achievement.
Thomas writes, "I encourage anyone aspiring to start a business, to be successful in their career or to be successful in life to first find their "why". Your "why" will keep you honest, resilient, determined, and ultimately lead you to unimaginable heights."
This event is free and open to the public.
