"The Road to Freedom" Walks KU Students on the Road to Equality
Feb. 2, 2012
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University's Multicultural Center hosts "The Road to Freedom" on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. held in McFarland Student Union Building Multipurpose (MPR) room 218. This live multimedia experience highlights the work of those who banded together to challenge the injustices of racial discrimination and inequality.
The challenge for civil rights and social equality in America did not begin with MLK in the 1950's. The struggle can easily be traced back to an outspoken group of courageous pioneers who risked it all in the fight for freedom at least one hundred years before.
This event is an informative and thought provoking live commentary that brings to life the story of the efforts of Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Booker T. Washington, Frederick Douglas, W.E.B. Du Bois, the Freedom Fighters, MLK, and many others. Rousing musical performance and captivating big screen video images make this powerful program an entertaining educational experience for all.
