Women's Rugby Finishes Fourth in American Collegiate Rugby Association Championships

American Collegiate Rugby Association Division II Women's Consolation Round
Auburndale Fl. - The Kutztown University women's rugby team finished fourth in the American Collegiate Rugby Association Divsion II championships with a 24-15 loss to Vassar. The Golden Bears, who had a perfect 5-0 regular season, competed among 128 teams from across the nation to reach the final four tournament in Auburndale, Fl. this weekend.
The ladies suffered a 52-17 loss to Winona State in first round competition on Saturday while Vassar fell 34-19 to Notre Dame College.
Both defenses played exceptionally hard on Sunday with Vassar holding a slim 12-5 lead at the half. The Brewers would score 12 more points to start the second half before the Golden Bears would return to the board with two tries. The come back attempt would fall short as the Golden Bears fell 24-15.
Golden Bears scoring against Vassar were Nicole Delong, Kate Ludwick and Faith Hughes.
Winona State went on to capture the national championship with a 28-14 win over Notre Dame College.
