American Collegiate Rugby Association Division II Women’s Semi-Final

Auburndale, Fla. --- Winona State scored 29 unanswered points to open the match and never looked back en route to a 52-17 victory over Kutztown in the American Collegiate Association Division II Women’s Semi-Final in Auburndale, Fla., Saturday morning.

The Warriors’ 29 points came on four straight tries, three conversions and a penalty kick.   The Golden Bears got on the scoreboard late in the half to make the score 29-5 at the half.    Winona State opened the lead to 42-5 in the second half on a pair of tries and a penalty kick.  Kutztown had two of the last three tries, including a score as time expired.

KU’s tries were scored by Katharine Davis (sr. Upper Darby), Faith Hughes (jr. East Stroudsburg) and Jessica Tolton (sr. Abington).   Nicole DeLong (jr. Reading) had Kutztown’s sole conversion.

Winona State will play the winner of Saturday’s semi-final between Vassar and Notre Dame College on Sunday, while the Golden Bears will play in the consolation game Sunday at 10 a.m.
