KU To Host Free Computer Music Performances

August 29, 2012

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University hosts Dr. Joo Won Park, a modern composer and professor of computer music and audio technology from the Community College of Philadelphia, for a Computer Music Seminar in the Grim Planetarium on Wednesday, September 5, from 6-8 p.m.

The event features an original 30-minute performance by KU computer science professor, Dr. Dale Parson, and his KU students as well as a 90-minute performance by Dr. Park and students from the Community College of Philadelphia. Both performances will feature video art that will be projected onto the planetarium dome. These events are free and open to the public.

Dr. Park performs with toys, kitchenware, vegetables, umbrellas, and other non-musical items by digitally processing the sounds they make. He gets inspiration from listening to swamps, city noises, his young son, and other sounds that surround him.
