Due to the severe weather in the area, Kutztown University will close at noon today, Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014.

KU to Discuss Libraries Around the World

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University will host a panel discussion, Global Reach, Local Touch: A Discussion about Libraries Around the World, on Wednesday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. in room 100B of Rohrbach Library.  The event will be moderated by Frank Kasprowicz, host of BCTV's "Inside Berks Libraries."

Panel members will include:

  • Dr. F Javier Cevallos, president of Kutztown University and scholar of Spanish-language literature. He is a native of Ecuador and graduate of universities in Puerto Rico and the continental U.S.
  • Stephanie Steely, KU librarian with experience in Edinburgh, Scotland.
  • Scott Harkless, KU student and Library Science major with experience at the US Library of Congress.  He has completed extensive research on China's public library history.
  • Katharine Mannai, Kutztown Elementary School librarian who spent two years in Doha, Qatar coordinating library services for the Academic Bridge Program.
  • Martha Stevenson, KU Library Director who has helped establish libraries in Botswana and Zimbabwe.  She was also employed at midwifery library in the United Kingdom.
