Kutztown University students compose a formidable group of scholars and academics in a wide array of fields. KU and its academic departments are committed to recognizing these students and showcasing their achievements and dedication.

KU Inducts 70 into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society

Kutztown University will induct 70 into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in Alumni Auditorium in the McFarland Student Union.

KU Graduate Wins Scholars for the Dream Travel Award

Kutztown University graduate student Amanda Funk, of Reading, Pa., is the winner of the Scholars for the Dream travel award, which provides funding toward presenting at this year's National Council of Teachers for English (NCTE) Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) and a one-year membership to NCTE.

Nicholas Evans Awarded Carole and Ray Neag Undergraduate Research Grant

Nicholas Evans, junior computer science/software development major at Kutztown University, was awarded a $1500 Carole and Ray Neag Undergraduate Research Grant to develop a server architecture for large format local multiplayer gaming.  

Kutztown University Names Fall 2013 Dean's List

More than 1,600 students have been named to the Fall 2013 Dean's List at Kutztown University.  To be eligible for Dean's List, an undergraduate student must be registered for at least 12 credits and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60. 

Sociology Majors and Minors Inducted Into Alpha Kappa Delta

CCIS Study Abroad Scholarship Recipient

Congratulations to KU student Rebecca Vanhorn for being awarded a CCIS study abroad scholarship! She was one of three applicants chosen from a large competitive applicant pool of students from across the U.S. Rebecca is currently studying abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, for the spring 2014 semester.

Graduate Student Wins Scholars for the Dream Travel Award

Amanda Funk is the winner of the Scholars for the Dream travel award, which provides funding toward presenting at this year's National Council of Teachers for English (NCTE) Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) and a one-year membership to NCTE.  The award, which is given to first-time conference presenters who belong to a historically underrepresented group, recognizes originality of research, significance of pedagogical or theoretical contributions to the field and the potential for larger, subsequent projects. 

Undergraduate Research Grant Awarded

Sociology Students Inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta

Congratulations to the undergraduate sociology majors and minors who were inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta, Alpha Epsilon Chapter (International Sociology Honor Society) on Tuesday March 4.

Electronic Media Department Wins at National Broadcasting Society Convention

Thirty members of the Electronic Media Department attended the National Broadcasting Society Convention in Hollywood this past weekend.  KU came home with two awards.  They were the winners of the Model Chapter of the Year Award for excellence in service and the high level of achievement of the chapter.  They were also awarded the Grand Prize in the Video Promo Category for their promotion of the 2013 football team. 

Study Abroad Scholarship Recipient 

Congratulations KU student Rebecca Vanhorn on receiving a PASSHE Study Abroad Award for her spring 2014 study abroad program in Aix-en-Provence, France!

Outstanding Student Award

The Department of Criminal Justice is pleased to announce the recipients of the outstanding student award.  Heather Urban (Spring 2014) and Samantha Shultz (Fall 2013), received the Academic Excellence and Community Service Award.

Criminal Justice Students Inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma

We would like to congratulate the Criminal Justice students who were inducted into the Kutztown University's Kappa Alpha chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma.

26 Students Inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda

Please congratulate students who were inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda honor society for adult students Saturday evening. Inductees must have at least a 3.2 GPA to be eligible.

KU Philosphy Students Awarded

Congratulations to KU philosophy majors, Jay Winkleman and Joshua Steinberg, for winning awards for papers that they presented at the annual meeting of the PASSHE Interdisciplinary Association for Philosophy and Religious Studies at West Chester University on April 12, 2014.

Students Indicuted into Alpha Epsilon Lambda

Congratulations to those inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Lambda honor society for graduate and professional school students yesterday:  Lisa Cronk, Susan Ender, John Fuller, Susana Gaisey, Samuel Greenfield, Tanya Haller and Brenna Maier.

Junior Biology Major Awarded Grant

Ryan Kohn, a junior biology major at Kutztown University, was awarded a $1,500 Carole and Ray Neag Undergraduate Research Grant to obtain scientific equipment that will allow him to research macrophages and protein inhibition. Kohn specializes in molecular, micro and cell biology. 

UG Social Work Major Awarded Scholarship

Shaniqua Wells is one of five students chosen to be a recipient of Air Products $1,000 scholarship.  Air Products is sponsoring her internship at Friend, Inc. Community Services located in Kutztown.

28 New Inductees to Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society

The Mu Xi Chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society inducted 28 new members during the course of the ceremony. Congratulations to the new members.

Two Criminal Justice Students Receive Award

Congratulations to Samantha Shultz and Heather Urban who have been named the recipients of the 2014 Criminal Justice Department Academic Excellence and Community Service Award.

Department of Sports Management and Leadership Study's Senior Award Winners
