Family Day

FAMILY DAY, tomorrow, Oct. 5 - As a reminder our Fall Family Day is scheduled for tomorrow.
This event is open to all faculty and staff families! Come out to enjoy a great day of events and meet many
of the families of the students you know. A complete schedule can be found on the website

ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

A portion of the sidewalk in the front of Schaeffer Auditorium, at the southeast corner behind the President's Residence will be closed to repair a damaged underground steam condensate pipe on Monday Oct. 7, and re-open on Friday, Oct. 11. Pedestrian traffic approaching the front of Schaeffer, heading east will be routed down Schaeffer Lane. Pedestrian traffic from Sharadin and heading west will be routed behind Schaeffer to Schaeffer Lane. All entrances to Schaeffer will be open. Directional signage will be posted. This schedule is dependent on the weather. If the weather delays the repair we will start on Tuesday or Wednesday. Any questions or comments, please call Tom Green at x6-4324.

The Office of Admissions would like to thank the campus community for assisting in making Fall Open House a success.  We appreciate everyone's assistance in making the first of 3 fall open houses successful.  We hosted 539 students plus their family members for a total of 1267 people on campus at this event.  Our next two open houses are Fridays, Oct. 18 and Nov. 9.

 

As we look forward to spring yield events, please note the dates of our Accepted Student Days on Mar. 8, Mar. 29 and Apr. 12.   Thank you again for your support!

Christian gay journalist Jeff Chu will present "The Power of Presence" on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 4:30 p.m. in room 218 of the McFarland Student Union Building.  Chu is the author of "Does Jesus Really Love Me: A Gay Christian's Pilgrimage in Search of God in America." A book signing will follow at 5:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

 


 

APSCUF-KU is awarding $500 for the Gary Brey Scholarship for the Advancement of Union & Labor Rights.  Information is available at the APSCUF office (203A OM), Student Center, and at the main desks in the dorms.

Lisa and Scott Cylinder, metalsmiths, will be lecturing in Sharadin 120 on October 21st at 6:30pm. This event was made possible by The Miller Gallery and The Contemporary Crafts Club and is free and open to the public. The lecture will be in conjunction with Modern Makers: A Survey of 21st Century Crafts in Berks and Lehigh Counties. The artisan metalsmith couple will talk about their business working with metal.

  

GOLDEN BEAR ATHLETICS

 

Bring your radio to the football game tomorrow and follow all of the action on WEEU 830 AM as the Golden Bears host Slippery Rock. Coverage from University Field begins at 12:50 p.m. Tickets will be available at the gate.  KU students, faculty and staff with a valid ID will be admitted free.   Also, be sure to plan for the pre-game Family Day dedication of the new Golden Bear Plaza, adjacent to the stadium, at 11:45 a.m.   There will be free hot dogs and more.   We hope to see you there!
