Kutztown University senior criminal justice major Sarah Detweiler has been selected to present her work at the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences 2014 national conference in February. Her paper, "Ethics in Criminal Justice: Issues of Prosecutorial Misconduct," applies criminal justice Utilitarian and Deontology theories to explain misconduct in areas such as plea bargaining, conviction and evidentiary proceedings.

On Friday, Oct. 18, five Geography majors will be traveling to Buffalo, NY for the annual Association of American Geographers (AAG) conference.  They will be missing classes all day Friday, Oct. 18.  If these students are in your class, please allow them to make up any work that they will be missing. This is a tremendous opportunity for these students to experience professional development in their chosen field. Fine Arts Department Visiting Artists Series - Judith Stein, "The Wrong Man At The Right Time:" Dick Bellamy And The Art Of The Sixties." Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. in Sharadin 120.

 

Please join the Fine Arts Department for a lecture by writer and independent curator Judith Stein. Based on her upcoming biography of New York art dealer Richard Hu Bellamy, The Eye of the Sixties (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2014), Stein will discuss how Bellamy's launched most of the iconic pop, minimal and conceptual artists of his generation, and explain why Bellamy was a unique presence in the burgeoning sixties art market and went from liminal to legendary during his lifetime.

 

Judith E. Stein is the recipient of a Warhol Foundation/Creative Capital Arts Writers Grant and a Pew Foundation Fellowship in the Arts for literary non-fiction. Her writings have appeared in Art in America, The New York Times Book Review, and numerous museum publications. A former curator at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, she curated I Tell My Heart: The Art of Horace Pippin, (1995), which was shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
