Due to the severe weather in the area, Kutztown University will close at noon today, Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014.

Essential personnel should report as directed.

Last week was Greek Week. The various social Greek organizations held penny wars and raised more than $1,300 for philanthropy projects.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Financial Aid Services welcomes 28 fifth graders and their parents today for the finale of this year's "College Can Be a Reality" program.  Today's campus visit caps off the ninth year of this early awareness outreach collaboration between the Financial Aid Office and Lauer's Park Elementary School in Reading.  Thanks to those Kutztown University staff, faculty, and students who supported our program today and throughout the year.  We are grateful for your help in instilling the dream of a college education as a real possibility in the lives of these children.  Speaking at the luncheon today will be two current Kutztown University students - Asia Crawford and Magali Hernandez - who are graduates of the "College Can Be a Reality" program.

The KU Alumni Engagement office is accepting nominations for the Arthur and Isabel Wiesenberger Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching.  This award is presented annually to one faculty member who has served Kutztown University in a manner which sets him or her apart from faculty colleagues. Any current full-time faculty member at Kutztown University is eligible for nomination. Nominations may be submitted by anyone associated with Kutztown University: faculty members, administrators, staff, students and alumni. The award is presented during the opening day ceremony of the fall semester. The recipient will receive $2,000 and a plaque.  Nominations forms are being forwarded to all Dean's offices. You may also download a nominations form online at http://www.give2ku.org/alumni-engagement/awards. Deadline has been extended to Friday, May 16, 2014.  Please contact the alumni engagement office with any questions.

This week's MSU Movie Series film is The Monuments Men which will be shown in the McFarland Student Union Alumni Auditorium on Thursday and Friday at 8 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM and 8 PM. Admission is free! Check out the MSU movie website for more information.

GOLDEN BEAR ATHLETICS

The Kutztown University women's golf team won its season-finale on Sunday afternoon with a 41-stroke win at the East Stroudsburg Invitational at the Glen Brook Golf Club. It is Kutztown's sixth win of the season, tying the single-season school record previously set last season.
