Kutztown University Music Faculty Timothy Schwarz and British Pianist Jane Beament will in the Georgian Room in Old Main on Wednesday, March 26th at 7:30. The recital will feature music from America and Britain, including female and contemporary composers from both countries.  The Anglo-American Duo specializes in music from America and Britain, drawing from a wide range of styles, periods, and genres. As a duo they have given numerous British and world premieres. They have performed in over a dozen venues in the United Kingdom including the London College of Music, Ealing Festival, Dulwich College, London School for the Boys, Kingston University, Saint John's Church, and All Saints Church. In 2011 they recorded works by David Osbon for the British recording label Music Chamber. Other European concerts include a 2013 Italian tour, with performances at the Grumo Festival, Ludus Tonalis, and the Colle Ionci Cultural Association. In the USA, the Duo has performed at the University of Delaware, The Music School of Delaware, and the Abington Concert series. Radio performances include Classic Shock on Radio Libera Tutti (Italy) and Simply Grand on WVIA (USA).

Danica McKellar will join Doc Ogden's marketing management class via Skype on Tuesday, March 25 at 3:15 p.m. in Academic Forum room 202.  The KU community is welcome to attend.  Best known for her roles on "The Wonder Years" and "The West Wing," McKellar is also a three-time New York Times bestselling author, an internationally-recognized mathematician and an advocate for math education.  A summa cum laude graduate of UCLA, McKellar has been honored in Britain's esteemed Journal of Physics and the New York Times for her work, most notably for her role as co-author of a groundbreaking mathematical physics theorem which bears her name, the Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem.  McKellar is currently competing on "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC and will join Ogden's class via Skype each week to discuss her performance. 

 


 

The Kutztown University Council of Trustees will hold a regular meeting on Thursday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m. at the Stratton Administration Building, room 301.

 

GOLDEN BEAR ATHLETICS

 

Kutztown University announced the hiring of Jim Clements as the 16th head football coach, effective Monday March 24. Clements comes to Kutztown after serving as the head coach at Delaware Valley College for eight years.  Read his story here.

 


 

Twelve members of the Kutztown University field hockey team were recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Wednesday afternoon as selections to the 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad.  Kutztown was also honored with a Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division II National Academic Team Award as a program with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Of the 12 Golden Bears honored, all three seniors were included for the fourth time of their careers. Jamie Koenig, Erin Reynolds, and Elly Skinner have now earned academic honors in each of their four years in the Maroon and Gold.  Along with the senior trio, nine other student-athletes were named to the squad, ranging from freshmen to juniors. Included were Anna Behm, Analyse Gaspich, Samantha Jacobson, Liz Mikitish, Kayla Ruth, Rachael Sanders, Julia Snyder, Jessica Strohecker and Megan Tiwold.

 

Kutztown improved by three overall wins in 2013 and was in playoff contention until the final game of the season. It had two players earn all-conference recognition, and Reynolds earned her second career All-America honor.
