The Daily Brief

In June, Dr. Lynn M. Kutch, associate professor of German, visited Hildesheim, Germany, the site of a KU's newest exchange program. Because this is an official Kutztown program, it offers students the advantages of paying their regular tuition and still taking advantage of financial aid, as well as smoother course transfer. During the program's inaugural year (AY 2014-2015), four German majors will study in Hildesheim for the full year, and three additional majors will attend classes in Hildesheim for the spring 2015 semester. According to the agreement, students from Hildesheim will study at Kutztown in the future for a full year or a semester. New KUnited User Interface Coming This Week! - On Tuesday, July 22 you will notice a new user interface (a new look) on KUnited (powered by OrgSync).  KUnited is the online system used for student, staff and faculty to learn about opportunities, join organizations and track campus involvement and service opportunities.  We also use this system for University Senate elections, student organization registration and electronic forms for information collection.  When you sign in, you will notice that the screens will look enhanced and the layout will be different all in an effort to create a better user experience.  Be sure to check it out, and stay tuned for some more informative messages on how you can become more familiar with this technology!

If you are interested in seeing more about this updated interface you can see details here:

Desire2Learn (D2L) has changed its name to Brightspace - Desire2Learn used the stage of its annual user conference to announce the rebranding of its core education applications. The company revealed that its flagship product set will now be called Brightspace, an Integrated Learning Platform (ILP) that unifies recent product acquisitions and partnerships under a single brand.

What does this mean for KU in the near-term? Aside from the rebranding of our current D2L support and login pages, there will be no changes to the functionality of the system. New feature sets, improvements and support offerings will continue to be introduced with each scheduled upgrade and throughout the upcoming academic year.

Doug Scott, manager, Distance Education
