The Daily Brief

L to R:  Ashley Parkansky, Patricia Brenner and Alicia Nazar

What have you done over the summer to make connections with classmates, family, friends or research associates?  Ashley Parkansky who is a current Kutztown University student in the MS in School Counseling Program along with Alicia Nazar, a recent graduate of the program, and Professor Brenner were volunteers at the BCIU's Camp Connect, the first ever Grief and Loss Camp held for children ages 6-13 in Berks County.  The children participating had lost a parent, sibling, close relative or friend within the past two years.  The camp ran from June 23-26.   The idea for the camp came from Dr. Melody Shoemaker who is a Psychologist with the BCIU.  After hearing about workshops offered by Patti Anewalt who conducts grief and loss camps at the Pathways Center for Grief & Loss she asked if it could be done in Berks County.  Rodney Good, Safety and Training Supervisor with the BCIU along with Dr. Shoemaker formed a committee to investigate and plan.

I would like to say thank you to all who donated time to me while I was off of work due to surgery.  It is good to know that friends and co-workers took the time to donate hours.  It was greatly appreciated!  I can't say it to each individual but "THANK YOU" so much to all.
