Each student organization on campus is required to have a KU faculty or staff member to serve as an advisor to the group. On occasion, there is a student organization in need of an advisor. Currently, Lutheran Student Movement, No Laughing Matter and Chinese Students and Scholars Association are all looking for a new advisor.
Advisors are expected to do the following:
•· To complete the Cleary Act online training in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of campus security policy and campus crime statistics act (Clery Act),
•· To be kept aware of all organization activities and events. Communication is the key to any relationship.
•· To have meetings on a regular basis. This helps establish and maintain lines of communication.
•· To respect student leaders, general members, and fellow advisor(s).
•· To solve problems in an efficient and proper manner.
•· To review and sign various documents, as well as complete online reservations and forms.
•· To have the opportunity to be heard on relevant topics and during decision making processes.
•· To not be responsible for running the group (remember, that's why they call it a student organizations).

It is with extreme sadness that I make the KU community aware of the passing of Donald Peiffer, father of Randy Peiffer, custodial worker two in the HRLDS department. Donald was a retiree from KU. He had been employed by facilities in the carpenter shop. For those of us that had the pleasure of knowing Donald we would describe him as kind, caring , soft spoken and well-respected man. His character is what this world needs and should have more of and he will be deeply missed. Please help us shower Randy with the support of our KU family at this very difficult time by sending messages of sympathy to his home address: 76 W. Penn St. , Lenhartsville , Pa. 19534 - 0043.
