The Daily Brief

Jazz Ensemble

KU Jazz Ensemble I will be performing a concert of America's Classical Music this tomorrow, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium.  The concert is free and open to the public.  In addition to pieces written for jazz ensemble by composers past and present, the group will be presenting a rare performance of George Gershwin's 1924 version, often referred to as the "Jazz Band Version" of his masterpiece, "Rhapsody in Blue."  KU faculty member Dr. Daniel Immel will be the pianist.  The group will also be playing pieces made famous by The Buddy Rich Orchestra, Count Basie Orchestra, a new work by the great pianist, Geoff Keezer, and tunes for vocalist and jazz orchestra from the Great American Songbook.  Please join us for a fun night of what - Ahmad Alaadeen called "America's Gift to the World."
