Dr. Desalegne Mengesha Degefaw, Academic Vice President of the University of Gondar in Ethiopia, will visit Kutztown University on Monday, Dec. 9. at 4 p.m. in AF 103. He will give a presentation to faculty, students and staff on "Opportunities for Institutional partnerships between Kutztown University and the University of Gondar." Currently a Fulbright Scholar at the Ohio State University, Dr. Degefaw is exploring possible program linkages with various Departments at Kutztown University. The K.U. Electronic Ensemble will perform tonight at 7:30pm in the Georgian Room of Old Main. The ensemble features electric guitar, electric bass, electronic violins, synthesizers and an electronic trumpet performing familiar and not so familiar tunes from the 1700s to 1980s. Tonight's performance will include songs by Lindsey Sterling, Rush, Pink Floyd and the Beatles as well as a medley of tunes from Phantom of the Opera and an electronic arrangement from J.S. Bach's St. Matthew's Passion.
KU Jazz Ensemble I will be performing a concert of America's Classical Music this Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. In addition to pieces written for jazz ensemble by composers past and present, the group will be presenting a rare performance of George Gershwin's 1924 version, often referred to as the "Jazz Band Version" of his masterpiece, "Rhapsody in Blue." KU faculty member Dr. Daniel Immel will be the pianist. The group will also be playing pieces made famous by The Buddy Rich Orchestra, Count Basie Orchestra, a new work by the great pianist, Geoff Keezer, and tunes for vocalist and jazz orchestra from the Great American Songbook. Please join us for a fun night of what - Ahmad Alaadeen called "America's Gift to the World."

Kutztown University will host Pet Therapy Day on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in MSU 218, to help relieve KU students from the pressure of final exams. Animals from the Peacable Kingdom Petting Zoo will be available, as well as a large selection of therapy dogs. Faculty and staff are welcome to come relieve stress as well.

If you are contacted directly, please do not respond with any information regarding your departmental equipment. Neither the KU Purchasing Dept, nor our authorized copier dealer, Edwards Business Machines, are currently working on any project requiring information. How should you handle these calls? You can either: politely tell the caller that you are not authorized to release that information, forward their call to anyone in our department, advise the caller to contact the KU Purchasing Dept or simply terminate the call.
