THANK YOU to all the KU students, staff, and faculty who helped with the Community Outreach Center's (COC) drive for HOLIDAY BOXES for families in need. In the past two weeks, we collected 80 holiday boxes from around campus.  Last evening, volunteers from the COC helped to distribute the boxes, turkeys, and fruit to over 200 families who will have a better holiday because of you.   THANKS for your generosity and Happy Holidays from the COC and Friend Inc.

Jerry W. Schearer, associate dean, Inclusion and Outreach

MLK Day of Service on January 20 is coming up quickly!   We are still in need of coupon pages from the Sunday papers!  If you don't use your coupon pages from your paper, just put them in the campus mail to the Community Outreach Center, MSU 281. We will clip & sort the manufacturers' coupons for military families - who are able to use them up to 6 months after they expire!  ALSO - we need snacks for our 50+ student volunteers.  We prefer things that can be easily distributed and taken with them to the projects around Berks County. Little Debbie's, Pop Tarts, Granola Bars, Snack Bars, Breakfast Bars, Fruit Snacks are all welcome!  Simply drop these off at the Community Outreach Center (MSU 281) any time before January 20!  Thank you!

Winter break and the holidays are upon us but that doesn't mean dead air like for some 'other' local college stations. KUR will keep the programming piping 24/7 throughout winter break, and when the Spring semester arrives next month, we'll be back with our normal stellar student programming. In fact, just in time for the Christmas and Kwanzaa holidays, tune in for THREE days of non-stop holiday programming from 12:01 a.m. December 23 through 11:59 p.m. December 25. Besides non-stop holiday tunes, including plenty of music from KU's own KU Jazz Ensemble, KUR will feature the following schedule of programming on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (all other times holiday music):

Christmas Eve December 24:

High Noon: "Live from the KU Snowglobe" with your host Tom Mergen (an alternate version of the campus website & e-mail released "Snowglobe")

6:00 p.m.: "The Forest with Moon Willow" special Holiday Edition

9:00 p.m.: "Classical Guitar Alive" special Holiday Edition

Christmas Day December 25:

The Stroke of Midnight: The KUR Christmas Carol (KUR's own version of the Dickens classic with parts played by KUR personalities)

6:00 a.m.: "Live from the KU Snowglobe" with your host Tom Mergen

High Noon: "Classical Guitar Alive" special Holiday Edition

6:00 p.m.: "The Forest with Moon Willow" special Holiday Edition

9:00 p.m.: "Live from the KU Snowglobe" with your host Tom Mergen

Have a great winter break and Happy Holidays from everone here at KUR and be sure to let us know if you're enjoying our holiday programming! KUR is your customer-service friendly radio station and we want to hear from you, anytime, whether it be good or bad. Simply drop an e-mail to kur@kutztown.edu
