Major: Elementary, Special Education, Class of 2012
Elaina Cengeri is a senior at Kutztown University, majoring in elementary education with a focus in special education.
Cengeri chose KU for its reputation as a great teaching school. KU exceeded her expectations.
"KU has prepared me for the job world by giving me great professors that teach me with their life experiences. It also offered me pro sem, a professional semester where I can teach children and be able to experience the classroom before I enter student teaching," Cengeri said.
After graduation, she plans to move to South Carolina and begin working in an elementary school special education classroom or in a life-skills classroom, similar to the one she participated in during her time in high school. Cengeri credits KU's hands-on teaching experience, knowledgeable professors, and the professional seminar opportunity for her preparation in entering a career in teaching.
To students considering KU as their choice for higher education, Cengeri says, "KU is a beautiful school with so much to offer and so much to do. The majors are great, it's such a friendly atmosphere, and there is so much enthusiasm to teach you and for you to do the best that you can."
