Major: Political Science, Class of 2013
Ahmed Awadallah graduated from Kutztown University in May 2013 with a degree in political science and a concentration in economics. From KU, Awadallah headed to London to enroll in the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science.
From there, he hopes to one day work at the United Nations. The experience and education he's received at KU has put him on the path toward his goals.
Growing up in a small village near Cairo, Egypt, Awadallah received a Fulbright Scholarship to come to the United States for college. He completed an associate degree from Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pa., before returning to Egypt, thinking his education in the U.S. was at an end.
"I didn't have the funds to continue my education," Awadallah said. "I applied to Kutztown University and received a very generous scholarship. This was the main factor that helped me to come back to Kutztown and further my education."
Since enrolling at KU, Awadallah made an immediate impact, getting involved in several campus activities, including the International Student Organization, Model United Nations Club and Student Government.
Awadallah hopes to put his experience and degree in political science to good use, with plans to return to Egypt and to get involved in helping the nation move forward after its recent revolution.
"The Egyptian Revolution started in January 2011, I became very interested in international relations, peace and security," Awadallah said. "I really wanted to develop a better understanding of political science...further my education with grad school, and hopefully go back to my home country, Egypt, and make a difference one day."
Awadallah encourages prospective students to choose KU.
"Kutztown University is a great place to be. Challenge yourself. Learn a lot. Get involved. Develop leadership skills and prepare yourself to be a future leader."
