Music
Kutztown University's Department of Music offers an outstanding undergraduate education for aspiring musicians while serving as a primary cultural resource for the region. With an emphasis on active learning, the comprehensive music curriculum gives our students extensive experience in their chosen field of study. Our outstanding music faculty mentors and fosters each individual student's development and guides them to professional success.
Information on our degree programs, application materials, auditions and scholarships can be found under the prospective student pages. The Department of Music offers many performance opportunities through both large and small ensembles which are open to all university students, regardless of major.
The department's office is housed in Old Main. While Schaeffer Auditorium is undergoing a grand renovation and expansion to be reopened in the fall of 2013, all on campus concerts will take place in either the Georgian Room or the Student Union Building. The 14,000 square foot expansion to Schaeffer Auditorium will house two new large rehearsal halls, a recital/lecture hall, practice rooms, music classrooms, chamber music rehearsal rooms, music library, instrument and uniform storage, lockers, lounge, and new dressing rooms, amongst many other renovations to accommodate the rapidly growing music program.
