Health & Safety
At Kutztown University, we are committed to providing students with numerous opportunities for enjoyment. We understand that there are instances of illnesses, safety issues, and emergencies that occur. We strive to provide a clean, safe and healthy environment for our students, faculty and staff.
The Public Safety and Police Services Unit is comprised of 19 police officers, as well as services from an outside security agency to supplement patrol efforts. Public Safety sponsors a free program to all women that focuses on crime prevention measures and self defense tactics. The department has partnered with the Borough of Kutztown to form KUBoK, a neighborhood watch program, to monitor the community during late hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Public Safety also offers a safety escort to all students, available 24-hours a day.
The KU ALERT system is designed to notify students and parents of emergency situations on campus, as well as changes in class schedules such as delays and cancellations. Students can register up to two cell phone numbers and two email addresses for alerts. This is highly effective in keeping parents in the know regarding situations on campus. Please view our Annual Safety, Security and Crime Statistics Report for information about the safety of Kutztown University.
Kutztown University's Health and Wellness Center provides quality health care, health education and promotion, and counseling and preventative services to the campus community in a caring, cost-effective and convenient setting. A physician is on site 20-hours per week for scheduled appointments. Additionally, Women's Health Services provides examinations and testing for female students. Health insurance plans are available to those students who meet eligibility requirements.
