Registering for CONNECTIONS Orientation
CONNECTIONS Orientation is designed to introduce new students and their families to campus life and academic expectations. Each student will have an appointment with a faculty advisor to register for classes. Students should plan to attend the entire program and all events.
CONNECTIONS Orientation is mandatory for all new students. Students who have paid the $200 advance registration deposit are eligible to register for orientation. To sign up, go to your MyKU, click on student services center, other academics, CONNECTIONS.
We strongly encourage family members to attend CONNECTIONS Orientation with their student. The more you understand about the college experience, the more helpful you will be to your student during his/her transition.
Family members can expect to gain an increased familiarity with campus life at KU and be introduced to faculty, staff and students. Information about residence life, campus safety and security, academic support services, student health care and tips on how to support students during their (and your) transition to college will also be provided at CONNECTIONS Orientation.

What to do Before you Arrive
Take the Foreign Language Placement Exam
If there's a chance you'll be required to take a foreign language as part of your degree requirement at KU, you should plan to take the foreign language placement exam. The Department of Modern Language Studies utilizes a web-based placement exam (CAPE) in French, German, and Spanish: The test can be accessed from any Internet-capable computer, takes only about 20 minutes, and provides immediate feedback regarding the appropriate level of language placement. Use any computer with Internet access, go to: http://www.kutztown.edu/academics/ liberal_arts/language/index.shtml, click on "placement exam", enter login: kutztown user , enter password: bears1 . Please print a copy of your results and bring with you to orientation.
