Academic Passport and Transfer Programs

Academic Passport guarantees admission and makes the transfer process easy for students from Pennsylvania community colleges, Lackawanna College, and from one PASSHE university to another.

Academic Passport Eligibility

  • Students who completed an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) from a PA community college or Lackawanna College, earned a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA in all coursework, and at least 30 credits of liberal arts coursework, or
  •
  • Students from another PASSHE University who have completed least 12 college-level credits and earned a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Program Guidelines

  • This program doesn't guarantee admission into academic programs that have higher or additional requirements.
  • With an Associate degree, up to 45 general education/liberal arts credits will be applied toward satisfying lower-division general education requirements. Your remaining college-level credits will be applied to the major or accepted as electives.
  • "D" grades will transfer only if the overall GPA from each institution attended is 2.0 or better.  Some programs may require a "C" or higher for major courses and certain other courses.
  • Remedial, developmental, or study skills courses are not transferable. Occupational and vocational courses usually are not accepted.  Certain technical courses may transfer depending on the program.

Articulation and Partnership Agreements

Kutztown University has established special transfer agreements with several community colleges in the region.  These agreements outline specific requirements to ensure a smooth transfer to KU.

Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) Articulation Agreement (Agreement Under Review)

MCCC students who submit an articulation "Intent" form to enter Kutztown University will be guaranteed admissions into a Bachelor degree program with third-year (junior) status at KU on the condition they:

  • Graduate from MCCC with an Associate of Arts or Science degree (A.A./A.S.)
  • Meet the admissions requirements for their intended major and satisfy all other KU transfer requirements

Some benefits of this program include application fee waiver, scholarship opportunity, and transferability of "D" grades (unless prohibited by major).  Visit MCCC Student Services Center for more information.

Reading Area Community College (RACC) Articulation Agreement

RACC students who submit an articulation "Intent" form to enter Kutztown University prior to earning 44 college-level credits will be guaranteed admissions into a Bachelor degree program with third-year (junior) status at KU on the condition they:

  • Graduate from RACC with an Associate of Arts or Science degree (A.A./A.S.)
  • Meet the admissions requirements for their intended major and satisfy all other KU transfer requirements

Some benefits of this program include application fee waiver, scholarship opportunity, and transferability of "D" grades (unless prohibited by major). Visit RACC Transfer Center for more information.

Partnership Programs

Reading Area Community College (RACC)
and
Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC)

Select high school seniors who applied to Kutztown University and who meet specific requirements are invited to participate in this program.  Participation in this program assists students to build a strong foundation allowing them to successfully transition to KU.  Partnership students are guaranteed admissions if they:

  • Complete a minimum of 12 college-level credits
  • Maintain good academic and financial standing
  • Earn a minimum cumulative 2.00 GPA (some majors have higher GPA or additional requirements).  Remedial and developmental coursework do not count as part of the 12 college-level credits.

Students invited to participate in either of these programs can enroll by:

  • Completing and mailing the participation card to the KU Office of Admissions by the date specified
  • Applying to RACC (RACC Partnership) or LCCC (LCCC Partnership)

Remember to submit your official college transcript to KU's Undergraduate Office of Admissions after you complete 12 college-level credits. (Note: applicants who enroll into either partnership program are not required to re-apply or pay another application fee if they transfer to KU within one year of their initial application date.)

Additional Transfer Resources
