Intensive English Program Staff

Sylvia Popichak completed her B.A. in Sociology at the University of Vermont and received a certificate in Advanced Spanish Language study at Middlebury College Language School in 2003. She went on to receive her M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in 2009. Before she came to Kutztown University to teach in the Intensive English Program, Sylvia lived and worked in both Spain and Mexico, teaching English to speakers of Spanish and Maya. Her experiences teaching abroad, as well as working as a Writing Tutor at the MIIS Graduate Writing Center, have provided her with many opportunities to work closely with international students with diverse skill levels and a wide range of academic interests. She loves that her job lets her teach people from all over the world. Originally from Bethlehem, PA, Sylvia is interested in music, the Spanish language, outdoor activities, and cooking.
