Master of Education, Licensure in:

Secondary School Counseling

The Master of Education in Secondary School Counseling - Licensure Program is a comprehensive program designed to prepare students for a career as a Professional School Counselor in a private or public school setting for grades 7-12, and/or a career as a counselor in the social service field.

This program consists of 60 semester hours. Upon successful program completion and qualifying scores on the PRAXIS examination, specialist certification as a Secondary School Counselor is granted through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Upon program completion, students will also have met the academic requirements of 60 credits for the Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor Examination. This particular license is not mandatory for practice as a Professional School Counselor, but may be required in a clinic, agency, hospital, or other counseling setting.
