Certificate in:
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Kutztown University's Secondary Education Department has been accredited by the PA Department of Education to provide the Program Specialist Certificate - English as a Second Language (ESL).
This program, designed to aid students in areas of exploration such as Latinized grammar, integration of English language learners, and literacy development. This certification is for certificate holders in all kindergarten through grade 12 programs.

Program Requirements:
- 18 credits of classwork
- Students must have a valid Pa. Instructional I or II Certificate to complete the program.
- Foreign applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English via the ACTFL English Language OPI.
- All courses must be passed with a C or higher.
- 60 hours of designated fieldwork experiences must be completed.
