Sharadin Arts Building provides world-class studio and teaching spaces for the visual arts. Schaeffer Auditorium, renovated and expanded in 2013, and Old Main are home to the music programs. Communication studies and electronic media reside in Rickenbach Learning Center.
Visual Arts programs are fully accredited by NASAD, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Music programs are fully accredited by NASM, the National Association of Schools of Music.

Communication Studies Professor Dr. Andrea Mitnick was granted her second Fulbright Award. In spring 2014, she will present lectures on interpersonal communication, leadership and American media to both students and faculty at the Budapest College of Communication, Business and the Arts.
The KU Wind Ensemble performed an evening concert at the Kennedy Center as a featured university ensemble for the Washington DC International Music Festival on April 22, 2013.
