Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Kutztown University!

The College of Visual and Performing Arts engages students in a wide variety of visual and performing art forms in the development of artistic skills, critical thinking, visual and verbal communication skills, historical perspectives, problem-solving, individual growth and academic excellence, preparing them to contribute to the diverse global environment.

We are committed to preparing creative students for the diverse global environment. Dedicated faculty challenge students to strive for excellence and develop their individual voice. Graduates are skilled practitioners who blend critical thinking skills with historical perspectives to make an impact in their chosen vocation.

Sharadin Arts Building provides world-class studio and teaching spaces for the visual arts. Schaeffer Auditorium, renovated and expanded in 2013, and Old Main are home to the music programs. Communication Studies and Electronic Media reside in Rickenbach Learning Center.

Visual Arts programs are fully accredited by NASAD, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Music programs are fully accredited by NASM, the National Association of Schools of Music.

Faculty Highlights

Music Professor Dr. Daniel Immel was invited to perform a recital to a full house at the famed Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary in February 2015.

Student Highlights

The KU Wind Ensemble performed an evening concert at the Kennedy Center as a featured university ensemble for the Washington DC International Music Festival on April 22, 2013.
