Audition and Portfolio Information

All applicants to programs in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (except Communication Studies and Electronic Media) must successfully demonstrate artistic talent through an audition/interview, portfolio review, or art test.

Admissions decisions are made only after an applicant has completed both the university application and the audition/interview, portfolio review, or art test requirement.

MUSIC and MUSIC EDUCATION

Music and Music Education applicants select one option to complete their audition/interview. Each program has unique entrance requirements and procedures as described in Music Audition/Interview Requirements.

On-Campus Audition/Interview

Kutztown University hosts several Music and Music Education audition/interview dates:

Alternative individual audition dates can also be arranged, if required.

* All music scholarships may be awarded prior to March 1.

Recorded Audition

Applicants are strongly encouraged to audition in-person whenever possible. However, recognizing that travel can be costly, applicants may submit a recorded audition. Recordings must be of the best possible quality in both sound and picture, with appropriate lighting and following the requirements for the applicant's instrument/voice. Poor quality recordings may result in an unfavorable review by the faculty. CDs, DVDs and links to cloud-based recordings may be submitted directly to the Department of Music for evaluation.

ART EDUCATION, CRAFTS, and STUDIO ART

Art Education, Crafts, and Studio Art applicants select one option to complete their portfolio review. Each degree program has unique admission requirements, procedures and deadlines as described in: Art Education, Crafts, and Studio Art.
