Art Bus

College of Visual and Performing arts students are encouraged to explore the world, gaining a wealth of insights for their own scholarly and artistic growth. In addition to the many events that bring renowned scholars and practitioners to campus, the Dean's Office sponsors an Art Bus to New York City on several Saturdays every fall and spring semester.

Participants board the Art Bus on campus in the morning, and are dropped off either in Chelsea or near the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They spend the day on their own exploring world-class art galleries and museums, hearing outstanding musical performances, attending lectures by renowned scholars, shopping at department stores and boutiques, experiencing diverse cultures, and taking in the vibrancy of the city. The return bus to Kutztown boards at both drop-off locations in the evening.

This opportunity is open to current KU students, faculty, and staff, with priority given to students in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

Individuals and groups are invited to participate in the Art Bus trips. While professors sometimes hold a block of seats for a class field trip, students must still individually sign up and pay for their seat on the bus.

Tickets (just $20 round-trip) are available on a first-come, first-served basis from the Dean's Office.

Spring 2013 Art Bus dates:

  • March 2
  • March 9

Remember to purchase tickets early, to ensure a seat on the date of your choice! Tickets may sell out days, and even weeks, in advance of each trip. For more information, please contact the Dean's Office.
