The College of Visual and Performing Arts encourages students to explore the world and gain a wealth of insights for their own scholarly and artistic growth. In addition to the many events that bring renowned scholars and practitioners to campus, the Dean's Office sponsors an Art Bus to New York City on several Saturdays every fall and spring semester.
The Art Bus departs from campus at 9 a.m. from parking lot B-1 (just west of Boehm Science Building) and drops off participants in the Chelsea area and near the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Participants spend the day on their own exploring world-class art galleries and museums, hearing outstanding musical performances, attending lectures by renowned scholars, shopping at department stores and boutiques, experiencing diverse cultures, and taking in the vibrancy of the city. The return bus to Kutztown University boards at 7:00 pm near the Metropolitan Museum of Art and 7:30 p.m. in Chelsea.
This opportunity is open to current KU students, faculty and staff, with priority given to students in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
Individuals and groups are invited to participate in the Art Bus trips. While professors sometimes hold a block of seats for a class field trip, students must still individually sign up and pay for their seat on the bus.
Tickets (just $20 per round-trip) are available on a first-come, first-served basis from the McFarland Student Union Information Desk. Payment is accepted in cash, check (payable to KUSSI), or Bear Bucks.
Spring 2015 Art Bus dates:
