University Choir boasts being the largest choral organization on the Kutztown University campus. The size of the ensemble has grown immensely over recent semesters, owing in large part to the enthusiasm of, interest in, and recruitment by the membership itself. The choir is directed by Prof. Don Schade, a member of the conducting faculty of the KU Department of Music. The group continues to firmly establish a tradition of excellence in performance of the highest quality in musicianship. Not only does the ensemble present music from the standard choral literature, it also regularly performs masterworks from the major repertoire as they were originally written, often with full instrumental accompaniment. The choir routinely sings a widely varied program, giving performers and audiences alike exposure to representative genres, styles, and periods of music history. Membership in University Choir is open to the entire student body by audition.
