Dr. Lisa Weckerle

Lisa WeckerleDr. Lisa Weckerle, Associate Professor of Communication Studies, specializes in Performance Studies. She teaches classes in Oral Interpretation, Latino/a Performance and Literature, Women Writers in Performance, Rhetoric of Literature, and Group Performance. Her research interests include adapting for screen and stage, literature and the rhetoric of evil, and feminist and cultural performance.

Dr. Weckerle is a teacher, director, performer, and writer. She recently presented a one woman show of new work by her favorite writer, Margaret Atwood, at the Modern Language Association Convention in Philadelphia. She has directed several shows at KU including The Phantom Tollbooth, Little Gold Star: a bilingual fairytail, and her own feminist fairy tale, The Fairy Godmother Failure. She also serves as co-advisor of the Perforum.

In her spare time, Dr. Weckerle enjoys triathlon training, reading novels, creative writing, yoga, and playing with her dogs.
