Communication Studies and Theatre
Welcome to the Department of Communication Studies and Theatre!
I invite you to explore the many course and program offerings in our department, from the B.A. in Communication Studies or B.A. in Theatre (in moratorium) to a minor in Communication Studies or Public Relations (offered in coordination with the Department of English) to the many courses that complement any degree offered by the university and several co-curricular student organizations.
It's way more than just talk! Communication Studies encompasses a wide range of fields, including media and new technologies, performance studies, interpersonal communication, public relations, organizational communication, rhetoric, health communication and public speaking. We offer concentrations in organizational and interpersonal communication, performance and culture, as well as public discourse. As one of the traits frequently touted by employers as a "must have skill," the communication abilities our students develop are essential and in-demand in many professions. Theatre students study acting, costuming, directing, producing, stage movement, lighting and scenic design.
The Department of Communication Studies and Theatre is located in the Rickenbach Learning Center (LC).
