Art Education Do you want to inspire and inform young people? Do you see yourself teaching others to appreciate and express themselves through art? If so, the Art Education program is where you will receive certification to teach art from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. If you choose to pursue a B.S. in Art Education, with its accompanying visual arts certification, you'll be part of one of the most highly regarded programs in the nation. Graduate students may enroll in the M.Ed. in Art Education or a Post- Baccalaureate Certification program in Art Education. Programs accredited by NASAD.
Communication Design Are you obsessed with design, illustration, or typography? Do websites, packaging, print ads, TV commercials, or magazine layouts excite you? Do you see yourself working at a design firm or advertising agency? If so, the Communication Design program is where you will start your career in graphic design, advertising design, interactive design, or illustration, after graduating with a B.F.A. in Communication Design. Program accredited by NASAD.
Communication Studies Do you like speaking with people? Do you enjoy organizing events, distributing information, and explaining ideas? If so, the Communication Studies program will offer you a variety of classes in rhetoric, public speaking, interpersonal communication, performance studies, organizational communication, health communication, media and new technologies, and public relations. When you graduate, you will receive a B.A. in Communication Studies.
Crafts Are you drawn to fine metals, textiles, ceramics, or furniture? Do you want to create works of art that people will enjoy in their day-to-day lives? Do you see yourself selling your crafts to collectors, or having them reproduced and sold around the world? If so, the Crafts program is where you will start your career in the design and manufacture of objects such as fine metals, fibers, ceramics, and furniture, after graduating with a B.F.A. in Crafts. Program accredited by NASAD.
Fine Arts Do you paint, sculpt, or make prints? Is spending time in a studio,
creating something from nothing, your idea of bliss? Do you intend to work in a gallery or museum, or to earn a living as an artist with your own studio and shows? If so, the Fine Arts program is where you will start your studio career in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, or digital media. When you graduate, you will receive a B.F.A. in Studio Art. Program accredited by NASAD.
Music Do you sing, play an instrument, or compose music? Do you enjoy conducting an ensemble, or teaching others to appreciate and express themselves through music? If so, the
Music and Music Education programs are where you will start your career as a music educator, performer, or composer. You will graduate with a B.S. in Music Education, with its accompanying certification to teach music from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, or a B.A. in Music. Programs accredited by NASM.

Art Education Admission Requirements
In addition to the general admissions requirements for KU, students interested in Art Education must also complete specific admissions requirements. These include an essay on teaching and submission of an Art Education Portfolio.
