TA Instruments Q200 Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)
In differential scanning calorimetry, the amount of energy absorbed or released is measured as it is heated or cooled. When the physical state of a sample changes (for example melts from a solid to a liquid) its heat capacity changes, and this physical change can be studies with DSC. Applications of DSC include the determination of melting temperatures, phase transitions in crystals, denaturation of biomolecules, glass transition temperatures, extent and rate of polymer curing in epoxy adhesives.
