Professor of Criminal Justice
Marc Renzema was a Professor of Criminal Justice at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania from 1982 through 2011 and taught primarily corrections, substance abuse, and research methods courses. In 1987 he founded the Journal of Offender Monitoring. He has written dozens of articles on electronic monitoring and the postrelease adjustment process and presented at both academic and practitioner conferences both in the United States and Europe. He has a bachelor's from Johns Hopkins University and a master's from Temple University, both in psychology. He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice at the University at Albany.
From 2001 to 2010 he worked on a meta-analysis of the electronic monitoring literature for the Campbell Collaboration. In 2010 Dr. Renzema received Kutztown University's Chambliss Faculty Research Award for significant achievement in research and scholarship .In retirement he continues to study electronic monitoring and is a guest editor for the Journal of Offender Monitoring. He also has written a chapter for Electronically Monitored Punishment: International and Critical Perspectives being published in fall 2012.
