KU To Freeze All Campus-Based Fees For 2013-14
April 8, 2013
Dear Kutztown University juniors, sophomores and freshmen:
I have very good news to share with you regarding the upcoming academic year.
In an effort to keep your college education affordable, Kutztown University will be freezing all campus-based student fees for 2013-14. This includes: room, board, Student Union, Recreation Center, transportation and Health Center fees. The Student Government Board (KUSSI) is also planning to keep the student activity fee the same for the year ahead.
The fee freeze applies to ALL students, including those who are part-time or attending graduate school.
Using the past three years as a measure, the estimated savings for a Pennsylvania resident student living on campus is approximately $467 annually. This fee freeze will certainly create additional pressure on the university to maintain quality services. However, it is something we feel we must do to help our students and their families during these difficult financial times.
While campus-based fees are controlled by the university, tuition and instructional fees are authorized by the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) and will be determined in the coming months. Historically, the board has kept tuition rate increases for State System institutions among the lowest in the country.
My hope is that this information will help you and your family in planning for next school year, and will encourage you to keep moving toward your KU degree.
If you have any questions, please direct them to the Bursar's Office at 610-683-4133, or visit www.kutztown.edu/bursar.
Best wishes in your studies. I look forward to seeing you on campus again in the fall.
