Announcement from the Provost
June 23, 2014
Dear KU Campus Community,
In preparation for my tenure as acting president of the university, I have spent some time evaluating the Division of Academic and Student Affairs to determine the best course of action to backfill my permanent position of Provost/Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs after July 1,2014.
I have decided that it is in our best interest to hire a temporary administrator to fill the Provost/Vice President role during the presidential transition. This will help ensure business continuity and minimize disruption for both the division and the university.
To assist with this process, our Office of Human Resources has secured an outside search firm that specializes in identifying executive temps. The firm will come to campus with the candidates, help us conduct the interview process and identify the successful temporary candidate. The candidates will interview over a two-day period with me, as well as the following groups: cabinet, my direct reports, faculty (one APSCUF member, one Senate member, and one Instructional Department Chair), and two members of the Student Government Board (SGB).
Once the process is complete and the successful candidate is identified, we will inform the entire campus. We hope to have someone in place by early to mid-July.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. In the meantime, enjoy the great summer weather. I sincerely look forward to working with you all as acting president in the months ahead.
