Testing of New Shuttle Tracking System to Take Place February 3-28

We know how busy your day is. Don't waste a minute of it waiting at a bus stop.

Kutztown University will be conducting a three-week trial and evaluation of a new campus shuttle tracking system from Monday, February 3 through Friday, February 28. Offered by DoubleMap, this online bus-tracking application delivers real-time information to students about the campus shuttle buses. Color-coded bus routes and icons will let riders know where the bus is, when it will arrive and to receive important transportation announcements.

Wherever you go, whatever you use

DoubleMap allows riders to track the exact location of a bus in real time through a web application accessible to riders through any web browser, native apps for both the Android and iPhone, as well as a mobile version of the web app for other mobile devices. Students may download a free app from or to track the campus shuttles through their daily routes on their smartphones.

DoubleMap: an Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system

Through GPS devices mounted in the buses, the shuttles are tracked along their routes with new information available every one to two seconds. This speedy update allows the viewer to track the bus's current location and provides an estimated time of arrival. (The ETA function is not available during the testing phase.) If you are tired of standing at the bus stop and wondering when the next shuttle will arrive, then download DoubleMap by visiting the App Store or Google Play and search for "DoubleMap." Once installed, select "Kutztown University" from the listing under "Configuration" and the bus you would like to track.

Evaluating the System

After the three-week trial period, an assessment survey will be emailed to all students requesting feedback about this new shuttle tracking system to determine whether it is the right system for KU. Please watch your mail for the survey. If you would like to provide feedback before the trial period has concluded or have any questions, please send an email to or call 610-683-4860.
